Portrait of NENEN Steering Committee Member, Vanessa Leveille... Licensed Therapist closing the care gap for career-driven moms

Vanessa Leveille is a licensed therapist, Matrescence coach, and founder of Matrescence in Color, based in Houston, TX.

With nearly 15 years of experience in mental health, Vanessa specializes in supporting moms of color through the complex, often overlooked transformation of early motherhood, called Matrescence. Her work blends holistic psychotherapy and liberation-focused, culturally-rooted care to help mothers feel grounded, resourced, and well.

Vanessa is committed to redefining what support looks like for modern mothers through clinical excellence, cultural nuance, and deep compassion. She is passionate about creating spaces that honor the lived experiences of women of color and challenge the systemic narratives that often leave mothers unseen and unsupported.

She draws inspiration from her Afro-Cabo Verdean roots, her experience growing up in Boston, and her journey through early motherhood.

When she’s not working, you’ll find Vanessa deep in a personal development book, researching her next likely unfinished home project, or dancing around the kitchen to Motown hits with her son. She believes joy is medicine, rest is resistance, and in feeling fully at home in your life.
