Jovia Godfrey, Nenen Founder... closing the care gap for career-driven moms through comprehensive postpartum recovery

Jovia Godfrey is the daughter of Haitian immigrants who met and grew their family in Boston, MA. In 2006, she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from Northeastern University.

Around the time of her graduation in 2006, Jovia both welcomed her first child and was hired as the founding Producer/Director of Boston Public Schools’ BPS-TV. There, in partnership with Boston City TV, she aided in the buildout of the district’s television broadcasting pathway program for high schoolers, inaugurated the live-to-air capabilities for the Boston Public School Committee’s monthly meetings, and helped to facilitate a partnership between The City of Boston and Turner Broadcasting System in Atlanta, GA.

In December of 2006, Jovia married her love and friend of ten years, Chris Godfrey.

While experiencing no shortage of fulfillment in her career, the simultaneous fast-tracking of both Jovia’s professional life and her growing family left her with a longing to attend more to the latter; so in November of 2007, Jovia decided that maternity leave for the birth of her second child would be, as she calls it, “a LEAVE leave.” During her “LEAVE leave”, Jovia spent countless days and hours with her young family at various parks, playgrounds, libraries, museums, beaches, historic sites, and on boats in coastal New England. In 2010, 2014, and 2016, she and Chris welcomed their three younger sons.

Beginning in 2012, Jovia spent ten years homeschooling the Godfrey children. During those homeschooling years, she also ran a successful Mary Kay business, sold real estate, and worked in airline customer service.

Jovia is currently a college Admissions Officer and a 7th Grade Writing Tutorial teacher in Houston, Texas. In addition, she and Chris operate a budding graphic and fine arts business.

Jovia attributes her giftings to having had an interestingly curated, ordered, and blessed upbringing, which includes having Christian, immigrant parents and attending Berea SDA Academy, Boston Latin School, Balfour Academy, and Northeastern University. All of these in concert have developed in Jovia an affinity towards holism.

Jovia enjoys clocks, maps and globes, lighthouses, warm beaches, thrifting for natural fiber clothing, and cooking authentic Haitian dishes.
